All things fashionable and fun for Moms, babies and kids

Toronto Women’s Fashion Week SS18 has been a whirlwind of excitement. I was particularly drawn in by the luxe and the unexpected designs at Wallo. Wallo is a newer Canadian design company, spearheaded by visual artist and designer Marie-Andrée Wallot. The pieces in the STAND UP Wallo collection boast a unique aesthetic and are completely wearable straight off the runway.

DRESSES THAT ARE WEARABLE ART

Wallo’s dresses are designed with images of faces and eyes on a large scale, creating an elegant and unique collection that can be described as wearable art. Colours are soft with varying tones that result in water-colour like textures, and eye candy for the audience of the show. The fluidity of the silk is draped beautifully on the models down the catwalk, creating dresses that are luxurious and easy to wear.

MODERN AND BALANCED DESIGNS AT WALLO

The modern take on the two-piece look is expertly showcased. Wallo balances sophisticated pieces that can be worn independent of one another. I can easily see these pieces added to my own closet! I love the idea of the ready to wear outfit for those occasions that you need to get dressed and don’t want to fuss. By throwing on a classic white tee and blazer with these luxe pants or even a turtleneck under the tunic, you have utilized your pieces expertly to transition through the seasons.

FLOWY SILK SKIRTS

Wallo’s designs undoubtedly marks fashion with a personal style, each piece a walking canvas displaying her design talent. Though relatively new to the fashion scene, Wallo’s designs are bound to become a staple!

“The charmeuse silk that we use offers an amazing depth of colour. Because it is timeless, to me, silk symbolises the rich and everlasting nature of human relationships. It is soft, light, fresh and silky on the skin – it is a joy to wear. It fluidly follows the body’s movements and drapes joyfully and gracefully”  Marie-Andrée Wallot
